How We Build the Stockyard

Where the listings come from, what the labels mean, and how we make money (not from this).

What the Stockyard is

The Stockyard is a community-sourced index of building blocks for working with AI agents: MCP servers, Claude Code subagents, skills, hooks, and a small set of general AI tools and frameworks. It's a directory, not a review site. We built it because we kept re-finding the same lists on GitHub and wanted one searchable place, with consistent metadata, that our own work could point at. It has 865 listings today.

Where listings come from

Of the 865 listings, 842 were imported from public GitHub collections in October 2025. The remaining 23 were added by hand before that: 15 official Anthropic skills and 8 widely used tools and frameworks. Descriptions come from the source lists and project READMEs, lightly formatted. Every imported listing links back to its original source.

If you maintain one of these lists and would rather we not mirror it, tell us and we'll remove the entries.

What "Verified" means

A Verified badge means the listing comes from an official or production-grade source: Anthropic's own skills repository, the official Model Context Protocol reference servers, the widely used tools we added by hand, or collections whose maintainers publish them as production-ready. It is a statement about the source, not a test result. We have not installed, run, or audited every Verified listing, and the badge is not a security review. Read the code before you run it, as you would with anything else from GitHub. 150 listings carry the badge today.

What ratings mean today

Only 23 listings carry a star rating, and those were set by hand when the first entries were added, before the community import. They reflect a first impression at the time, not a scoring system, and they aren't comparable across listings. We're leaving them visible rather than quietly deleting them, but treat them as placeholders. If we build a real rating method, it will be documented here first.

How we make money

Not from this. The Stockyard has no affiliate links, no paid placements, and no sponsored listings. Nobody can pay to be listed, ranked, or badged. The Fractary is a venture studio: it builds its own ventures and publishes open-source tools. The directory exists because we use it.

How to suggest or correct a listing

Email hello@fractary.com with the subject "Stockyard listing". Include the link, what's wrong or missing, and, if you maintain the project, say so. We'll also remove a listing at its maintainer's request. Every message is read.
